According to Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine’s third annual salary survey:

• The average national salary for Windows Certified employees, with less than six months' experience, is $38,100/year.  
• The average salary for an MCSE Certified employee is $72K/year.

Consultant Salaries

Experienced Windows consultants usually make between $100-200K per year. The hourly rate for consultants ranges from $30 to $200 per hour. $95/hr is a common rate for experienced consultants.

The downside of consulting is the lack of job stability. Consultants must be flexible to jump from one job to another very quickly. Sometimes, consultants must commute to distant cities and work long hours. Consultants are usually required to learn new technologies on their own time and with their own money.
